Levis Mwambi may go into Nakuru’s history books as the man who served the shortest sting as Rift Valley Police Commandant.
He will also go into history as being the man who last served in the slot for RV PPO.
He is among officers who have been recalled to Nairobi police headquarters following a directive on Wednesday from the Interior and Coordination Principal Secretary Mutea Iringo.
Iringo said all PPOs will replaced by county police chiefs.
Mwambi succeeds his beleaguered predecessor John M’Mbijiwe who was in January this year removed from office
in connection with Joshua Karianjahi Waiganjo a man accused of a spate of criminal activities, who he appointed head of the Kenya Police Reservists in Rift Valley.
In the meantime, Police Inspector General David Kimaiyo yesterday defied National Police Service Commission chairman Johnston Kavuludi by releasing a list of 47 county commanders without consulting.
In the new line up, Kimaiyo has appointed John Mwaka Koki as Nakuru County Police Commander replacing Bernard Muinde Kioko whose fate is yet to be established.
Former Nakuru OCPD Johnston Okasida Ipara has been plucked from Trans-Mara district and deployed to Tharaka-Nithi County-a promotion.
Another ex-Nakuru OCPD Stanley Tito Kilonzi is now the Kajiado County Commander.
